Marshfield girls hockey rips Lakeland, stays tied atop GNC standings

MARSHFIELD – Paige Johnson scored 18 seconds into the game and added two more goals to lift the Marshfield girls hockey team to a 7-1 rout of Lakeland in Great Northern Conference game Monday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.

Johnson added a pair of goals in the second period, when Marshfield scored four times, and Patty Jo Bloczynski had two goals and an assist for the Tigers.

Morgan Larson had four assists and Melissa Alcorta and Nell Eichten also scored for Marshfield.

The Tigers (14-6-1 overall) remain tied with Northland Pines for the lead in the Great Northern Conference at 11-1-1 with one game remaining. Marshfield plays at Medford and Pines is at Northern Edge on Friday in their respective conference finales.

Alexis Straughan only had to make eight saves in goal for Marshfield. Megan Hudy had 30 for Lakeland.
