MARATHON – Marathon turned a three-point halftime deficit into a double-digit win as it beat Auburndale 48-37 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Marathon High School.
Auburndale led 16-13 at halftime before the Raiders rallied, outscoring the Apaches 17-6 in the third quarter and 35-21 overall in the second half.
With the victory, Marathon passes Auburndale for second place in the conference standings. Marathon is now 15-2 overall and 8-2 in the Marawood South, while Auburndale falls to 12-6 and 8-3 in the conference.
Brooke Seubert made 9 of 11 free throws and scored 19 points for Marathon. She also had a game-high nine rebounds.
Shannon Yahnke had 10 points and five rebounds for the Apaches.
Auburndale was just 2 of 11 from the free throw line, while Marathon went 22 of 29.
Auburndale plays at Stratford on Friday.
