Marshfield boys basketball cruises past Wausau East

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys basketball team snapped its short two-game losing streak with a 63-44 rout of Wausau East on Friday night at East High School.

The Tigers improve to 11-9 overall and 7-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with the victory. East drops to 5-12 ad 3-7 in the conference.

Marshfield used a 16-3 second-quarter advantage to open up a 29-11 lead at halftime.

East cut its deficit to 10 entering the fourth, but the Tigers pulled away from there.

Tanner Dennis-Brown scored a career-high 19 points, going a perfect 6 of 6 from the field and 7 of 7 at the free throw line for Marshfield. He also had a team-high 10 rebounds. Luke Zuiker added 16 points and Luke Olson had 12 points, including 6 of 6 on free throws.

Overall, Marshfield was 19 of 20 at the free throw line.

Marshfield wraps up its regular-season schedule with a nonconference game at La Crosse Logan on Tuesday and a home game against Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
