Marshfield girls hockey ties for Great Northern Conference title with season-finale win at Medford

MEDFORD – The Marshfield girls hockey team clinched its first-ever conference title on Friday night, downing Medford 6-2 in a Great Northern Conference game at Medford.

Paige Johnson and Bailey Jozwiak each scored twice, and Morgan Larson and Lexi Dupee also added goals for Marshfield, which wraps up its regular season with a 15-6-1 record and a 12-1-1 mark in the GNC.

Marshfield tied Northland Pines for the Great Northern Conference championship. Pines downed Northern Edge 3-1 on Friday night.

Marshfield dominated played, outshooting Medford 47-20. Tori Walsh made 41 saves for Medford, while Alexis Staughan had 18 for Marshfield.

Johnson and Molly Schuster each had two assists for the Tigers. Kaylee Geiger, Kessa Schneider and Patty Jo Bloczynski also had assists in the win.

Marshfield is now off until next Friday when it opens up postseason play with a WIAA regional final at home against Lakeland. The game will start at 7 p.m. at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
