Columbus girls lose Cloverbelt crossover

FALL CREEK – A 22-11 run in third quarter by Fall Creek led the Crickets to a 73-52 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East-West crossover girls basketball third-place game Friday night at Fall Creek High School.

Kayla Fleishmann led Columbus with 15 points and five rebounds. Paige Albrecht added 12 points for the Dons, who finish the regular season with a 13-8 record.

Kassia Anderson scored 18 points for the Crickets (19-3).

Columbus was down 24-10 after the first quarter but crawled back in the game and cut the deficit to 34-29 by halftime.

Fall Creek regained control with the third-quarter spurt and closed out the game by outscoring Columbus 17-12 in the fourth quarter.

Columbus hosts Cornell in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Tuesday.
