Spencer boys basketball drops Cloverbelt crossover at Osseo-Fairchild

OSSEO – Osseo-Fairchild outscored Spencer 28-19 in a high-scoring fourth quarter to knock off the Rockets 73-66 in the seventh-place game of the Cloverbelt East-West crossovers on Thursday at Osseo-Fairchild High School.

Both teams finish their respective regular-season schedules with 7-15 records.

The Cloverbelt West ended up winning all six crossover games against East opponents on Thursday.

Neillsville plays Cadott in the second-place game and Fall Creek takes on Augusta in the first-place game on Saturday at Neillsville. The second-place game starts at 6 p.m.

Jeremiah Cattanach had 22 points to lead Spencer.

The Rockets used a 23-13 second quarter to tie game at 32-32 at halftime. Spencer moved ahead by two heading into the fourth before Osseo-Fairchild pulled away.

Karl Peterson scored 17 points to lead the Thunder.

Spencer opens WIAA postseason action Tuesday with a Division 4 regional quarterfinal at Pittsville. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com with pregame starting at 6:45 p.m. and tipoff at 7 p.m.
