Pittsville slams Spencer in WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional quarterfinal

PITTSVILLE – Pittsville ran out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and Spencer couldn’t recover, dropping a 59-28 decision to the Panthers in a WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Pittsville High School.

Pittsville led 16-6 after the first quarter and used a 20-5 advantage in the third quarter to open up a commanding 46-18 lead.

The Rockets shot just 23 percent from the field (11 of 48) and were 3 of 17 from 3-point range in the loss. Miles Weber and Mitchell Susa topped Spencer with six points each.

Nathan Dupee had 15 points, Brad Wesely scored 13 and Trail Pierce added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Pittsville.

Pittsville (16-7) moves on to a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Friday at Marathon (18-4).

Spencer’s season ends with a 7-16 record.
