UW-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team reaches state tournament with win over UW-Fox Valley

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield women’s basketball team is making a return trip to the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball State Tournament with a 77-49 rout of UW-Fox Valley in the second round of the state playoffs Wednesday night at the Marauder Gym.

The Marauders will take on UW-Barron on Saturday at 3 p.m. at UW-Marathon County in Wausau in a state semifinal.

Mckenzie Trunkel had 14 points to lead four Marshfield players in double figures. Kaitlynn Meffered had 13 points and 10 assists, Heather Adrian added 12 points and Brynn Salava scored 11 for the Marauders.

Addi Vold added 10 rebounds and seven assists for Marshfield.

The win is the Marauders’ 18th in a row and they improve to 22-2 this season.

Marshfield shot 40.5 percent and held Fox Valley to just 24.3 percent from the field.
