WASHINGTON, D.C. – Auburndale High School graduate and former University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point pitcher Jordan Zimmermann tossed a 1-hit, complete-game shutout to lead the Washington Nationals to a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.
Zimmermann struck out four and walked one, allowing just a single to Xavier Paul in the XX inning.
Zimmermann improves to 4-1 this season for the Nationals (12-11) with a 2.00 earned run average. He has 19 strikeouts and seven walks in 36 innings pitched this season. The shutout is the first in Zimmermann’s career.
