SPENCER – The Chequamegon pitching tandem of Brianna Mader and Megan Mader shut down Spencer and swept a nonconference doubleheader from the Rockets 8-0 and 10-3 on Saturday at Spencer High School.
Brianna Mader tossed a complete-game shutout in the opening game, striking out six without a walk.
Jamie Palecek smacked two home runs and had five RBIs, and Danielle Masterson had three hits and two RBIs for the Screaming Eagles (4-0).
Spencer managed six hits off Mader, three from Mandie Schultz, but could not plate a run.
In the second game, Megan Mader held the Rockets to only five hits to earn the win.
Chequamegon jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings against Spencer pitcher Tynae Phillips.
Marisa Johnson had two hits and scored twice for Spencer (2-2).
Spencer plays a doubleheader at home against Gilman on Monday and another at Owen-Withee on Tuesday.
