AUBURNDALE – Pittsville piled on nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings to outlast Auburndale 9-6 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Monday at Auburndale High School.
The game was scoreless through four innings before each team scored four times in the fifth.
Pittsville pulled ahead with five runs in the top of the sixth and held off an Apaches’ rally in the seventh.
Auburndale scored twice in the last frame before the Panthers were able to get the final out and escape with the victory.
Kayla Gotz smacked a home run and both her and Taylor Hoffman each finished 2-for-4 for Auburndale (2-3 overall and Marawood South).
Pittsville improves to 1-2 overall and in the conference.
Auburndale plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Tuesday.
