WAUSAU – Darian Molter went for a hat trick and the Marshfield girls soccer team won its fourth straight game, beating Wausau East 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Monday at D.C. Everest Middle School.

Molter scored twice in the first half, both on assists from Walker Guzowski, and added another with 26 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers to the win. Marshfield improves to 5-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Wausau East falls to 0-4 overall and in the Valley after suffering its second loss to Marshfield in five days.

Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said the Tigers may have took things for granted after having just beat Wausau East 5-0 last Thursday.

“It is disappointing at times – we look great and the next portion of the game we look very lethargic and lose the idea the coaches have been instilling with our team concept,” Lindner said. “To capture the intensity is the challenges the coaches will take on and try to instill this as we wind the season down to a close.”

Lindner pointed to the play of reserves Amanda Brickley and Charlotte Urban, the defensive play of Megan Marotz and Guzowski for her two assists as bright spots for Marshfield.

Marshfield hosts Merrill on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
