SPENCER – The Spencer softball team swept a doubleheader for the second time in as many days and remained unbeaten in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, beating Marshfield Columbus Catholic 13-0 and 15-1 on Tuesday at Spencer High School.
Paige Johnson had three hits and three RBIs and Marisa Johnson was 3-for-4 and scored twice for the Rockets in the 13-0 win. Spencer scored six times in the bottom of the first against Columbus pitcher Katelyn Welsh.
Mandie Schultz hit a home run and had two RBIs for the Rockets (11-3, 10-0 Cloverbelt East).
Spencer’s Heidi Guenther tossed a five-inning no-hitter, striking out seven and walking three.
Tynae Phillips pitched three hitless innings to grab the win in Game 2, striking out seven and walking one.
Paige Johnson smacked a home run and drove in three, and Marisa Johnson scored three times for the Rockets.
Columbus (0-8 overall and Cloverbelt East) pitchers combined for 16 walks in the loss.
