RHINELANDER – Mara Meyer tossed a one-hitter to lead Rhinelander to a 2-0 win over Marshfield in a nonconference softball game Tuesday.

Meyer struck out nine and walked two to earn the victory.

Rhinelander (2-4) plated single runs in the second and third innings against Marshfield pitcher Caitlin Kozik.

Kozik scattered nine hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter.

Katie Berrell doubled and scored on a single by Brianna Gilbert for the Hodags’ second run.

“Caitlin did a good job pitching, we just couldn’t get anything going offensively again,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said.

The Tigers (1-9) return to Wisconsin Valley Conference action with a doubleheader at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.
