Columbus Catholic softball sweeps doubleheader for Owen-Withee for first wins of season

OWEN – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team posted its first two wins of the season, sweeping a pair of close games from Owen-Withee on Wednesday 7-5 and 6-4.

Patricia Meyers had three of the Dons’ five hits in the opener and McKenna Immerfall had three walks and scored all three times.

Abby Baierl walked nine and gave up five hits, but earned the win in a five-inning complete game.

The Dons had just two hits in the second game, but took advantage of eight walks to pull out the win. Baierl walked twice and scored twice in the win.

Katelyn Welsh struck out six and allowed four hits and three walks to earn the victory on the mound for Columbus (2-8 overall and Cloverbelt East).

Owen-Withee falls to 0-10 overall and in the Cloverbelt East.

Columbus hosts undefeated Neillsville for a doubleheader at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m.
