Fifth-grader Elena Deets takes third at regional gymanstics meet in Missouri

MARSHFIELD – Elena Deets, a fifth-grader at Grant Elementary School in Marshfield and daughter of Tim and Cheryl Deets, recently completed her gymnastics season by finishing third in the Level 8 All-Around Junior A Individual Division at the USAG Region IV Championships at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., on April 13-14.

Deets, who competes for coaches Phyllis and Dale Hardt at the Oshkosh Gymnastics Center, had a score of 37.375 to finish third in her division.

Deets also won all-around titles in her age group at the Team Spirit Meet in Milwaukee, the Whitlow Sand Dollar meet in Orlando, Fla., and the Midwest Open in Tinley Park, Ill.

Deets was also a member of the Oshkosh Gymnastics Center Level 8 team that finished second at the Wisconsin State Optional Gymnastics Meet held in Kenosha on March 23-24.

Her top scores throughout the season were 9.675 in the balance beam, 9.200 in the vault, 9.675 in the floor exercise, 9.650 in the uneven bars, and 37.525 in the all-around.
