MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball team played three games in 24 hours and won them all.
The Tigers defeated Wisconsin Rapids 8-0 on Friday night, then swept a pair of games Saturday, beating Wausau East 8-7 in 8 innings and Chippewa Falls 16-6. All of the games were at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield.
With the wins, Marshfield improves to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
On Friday, Bo Howard tossed a complete-game shutout for the Tigers, striking out 10 and walking just two.
Jeren Hiller was 3-for-3 and Luke Wirtz went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Marshfield.
Aaron Schwecke earned the victory for Marshfield in the opening game Saturday against Wausau East, tossing 3 2/3 innings of relief. Howard smacked a home run, a single and a double, and Daulton Varsho also had three hits in the win for the Tigers.
Varsho, Howard, Hiller and Caleb Alexander each had two hits in the blowout victory over Chippewa Falls. Alexander had a home run and three RBIs.
Tanner Brown earned the win for the Tigers.
