WISCONSIN DELLS – Melissa May broke her own school record to win the shot put as the Marshfield girls track and field team finished second at the Heather Johnson Memorial Invitational on Friday at Wisconsin Dells High School.

Mauston won the meet with 126 points, just two more than Marshfield.

May won the shot put with a new school record toss of 41-1¼.

Other winners for Marshfield were Yasmeena Ougayour in the discus (104-6) and Martha Kupfer in the triple jump (33-4½) and 300 hurdles (48.40 seconds).

Marshfield boys results were not provided.

“We were very pleased with our results tonight,” Marshfield girls coach Dan Akin said. “The girls knew we were expecting a lot out of them tonight and we got it, with conference coming up. This was a chance to see some new competition that we normally don’t get to see.”

Marshfield will compete at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
