MARSHFIELD – The tough luck season for the Marshfield softball continued Saturday.
After losing the opener of a nonconference doubleheader 27-0 to Menomonie, the Tigers led 9-7 going into the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t hold on and dropped the game 10-9.
Marshfield falls to 1-13 on the season, while Menomonie improves to 10-3.
The Mustangs had 20 hits in the first game, led by Alexa Haltinner, who was 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. The Tigers had four hits and committed six errors in the loss.
Brooke Stainer had a two-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 2 to win it for the Mustangs.
Marshfield plays a doubleheader at D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
