WASHINGTON, D.C. – Auburndale High School graduate Jordan Zimmermann, a pitcher for the Washington Nationals, will likely not pitch in the Major League All-Star Game, according to a report on cbssports.com, quoting the Washington Times.

Zimmermann had an X-ray and an MRI on his neck following his start Thursday against Philadelphia. Nationals manager Davey Johnson said the exams revealed an issue with the soft tissue in his neck.

Zimmermann, who is 12-4 with a 2.58 ERA, will still attend the game in New York City on Tuesday, but is not expected to pitch in the game due to the injury.

The Nationals said Zimmermann is not expected to be placed on the disabled list.

Zimmermann allowed just two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings Thursday against the Phillies, but suffered the loss in a 3-1 defeat. He struck out six, did not walk a batter and gave up eight hits.
