Marshfield freshman football edges Stevens Point Ben Franklin

STEVENS POINT – Jared Klein tossed a touchdown pass, ran for another and threw four two-point conversion passes to lead the Marshfield freshman football team to a narrow 30-27 win over Stevens Point Ben Franklin Junior High on Thursday.

Klein had a 4-yard touchdown run, threw a 3-yard scoring pass to Grant Michaelis, and hit Michaelis on three two-point conversions. Klein also threw to Derek Michalski for a two-point conversion.

Branden Bohman had a 75-yard kickoff return and Trenton Smith ran 60 yards for a touchdown to provide for Marshfield’s other two scores.

Conner Peterson, Rian Vehrs, Paul Maguire and Sawyer Lovstad led the Tigers (2-0) in tackles, and Ryan Carolfi had an interception.

Marshfield hosts Wausau East in its next game on Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at Marshfield High School.
