Columbus Catholic girls tennis sweeps singles matches, defeat Phillips

PHILLIPS – Marshfield Columbus Catholic swept all four singles matches on its way to a 5-2 win over Phillips in a Great Northern Conference girls tennis match Thursday.

The Dons’ singles players only lost one set.

Columbus is now 2-3 in the GNC, while Phillips drops to 0-5.

Rebecca Lamermayer (No. 1), BJ Kaiser (No. 2) and Beth Frericks (No. 3) won in straight sets for Columbus, while it took three sets for No. 4 singles player Lauren Derfus to win for the Dons.

Catherine Anderson and Marion Schneider won 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles for the Dons’ other victory.

Columbus hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.
