MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team finished 2-3 and finished fourth at its home Marshfield Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers defeated Rhinelander (25-18, 25-20) and Medford (25-13, 25-17) and suffered losses to Wauwatosa West (27-25, 18-25, 15-8), Superior (25-13, 18-25, 15-12) and Altoona (25-14, 25-10).
Superior won the tournament title, with Wauwatosa West second and Altoona third. Rhinelander was fifth and Medford took sixth.
Miranda Forrest had 36 kills and 10 service aces to lead Marshfield in both categories. Courtney Bauer added 27 kills, Darian Molter had 68 digs and seven aces, and setters Sara Dasler and Ellie Fehrenbach had 43 and 37 assists, respectively, for the Tigers.
“Our serving was aggressive and effective today, but we need to have more control in our own serve receive,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “It will be nice to be able to see what we can really do when we get all of our players healthy, and we can get some chemistry on the court.”
Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids.
