MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s Max Tibbett and Rebecca Voss won individual titles and the Tigers girls took the team title at the annual Marshfield Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.

Voss, a senior running her final race on the Wildwood course, won the meet in 15:54.

“Rebecca went out and won her final meet at Wildwood Park in fine fashion,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “It was impressive race to say the least. The girls ran as a true team and packed it with our seventh girl placing 22nd overall.”

Marshfield had four medalists in all placing in the top 15. Dani Bender was eighth in 17:01, McKayla Scheuer took 12th in 17:15 and Madie Koehn finished 14th in 17:39. Melissa Brix rounded out the Marshfield scoring, taking 16th in 17:42.

Marshfield won the girls team title with 49 points, with Lakeland second with 67. Spencer 11th with 262 points and Auburndale finished 12th with 293.

Tibbett won the boys race in 17:20 and Marshfield took fourth overall. Tibbett pulled ahead early and maintained a comfortable lead for the final mile.

Tibbett is the third Marshfield boy in a row to win the invite, following Adam Voss in 2011 and Nolan Redetzke last year.

Medford edged Colby/Abbotsford 84-86 for the overall team title. Marshfield finished with 114 points. Marshfield Columbus Catholic was sixth with 150, Spencer finished 12th with 306 and Auburndale was 13th with 321.

James Kollross and Devon Klement finished together in 21st and 22nd place in a time of 18:48, Alex Gunn was 31st in 19:08 and Brett Roeglin took 47th in 19:56 for the Tigers.

“The boys had some growing pains today and placed fourth, but we are showing improvement,” Akin said. “James Kollross has made some incredible improvement this year, as has Alex Gunn. Devon Klement has had a steady season so far.”

Marshfield returns to action on Sept. 17 at the D.C. Everest Invitational.

Abby Bauer played ninth for the Auburndale girls, finishing in 17:03.86.

Complete results for Auburndale, Columbus Catholic and Spencer were not provided.
