WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield JV boys soccer team, comprised of all freshmen players, won a pair of games at the Fleck Memorial Tournament on Saturday to place second, which was due to a tiebreaker of goal-differential.

The Tigers defeated La Crosse Logan 6-2 and Chippewa Falls 3-1.

In the win over Logan, Hunter McManus scored at the 6-minute mark on an assist from Collin Nikolai, Luke McCann added a goal on a pass from Alec Hinson, and McManus added an unassisted goal to give Marshfield a 3-0 lead.

Ethan Hookstadt scored a pair of second-half goals, both assisted by McCann, and McCann found the net again on an assist from McManus to end the scoring for Marshfield.

McCann scored all three goals for Marshfield in the win over Chippewa Falls – one unassisted, another on an assist from Ethan Leishow, and a third on a penalty kick. John Fay saved a penalty kick for the Tigers that would have tied the game at 2-2 in the second half.

In all, Marshfield had 37 shots on goal and 15 saves in the two wins.
