STRATFORD – The Stratford football team defeated Edgar 17-14 in overtime, knocking off the Wildcats for the first time since the 2008 WIAA Division 6 state championship game.
The loss is Edgar’s first in the regular season since Stratford beat them in 2007.
Edgar fumbled on the opening possession of the overtime and Stratford’s Jake Zuelke kicked a 20-yard field goal to give the Tigers the victory.
The Tigers improve to 5-1 and 4-1 in the Marawood Conference, while Edgar falls to 5-1 overall and in the conference. Both teams are looking up at undefeated Marathon (6-0 overall, 5-0 Marawood) in the standings.
Marathon already defeated Stratford and will play at Edgar at Oct. 11.
