STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield volleyball team stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to knock off Stevens Point 3-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Thursday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
The win keeps the Tigers in the chase for the WVC championship. Both Marshfield and Stevens Point are 5-2 in the conference, while Wausau East was idle Thursday and remains at 5-1.
Marshfield won the match 18-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-13.
Courtney Bauer had 14 kills, Miranda Forrest added nine kills, 16 digs and four service aces, and Darian Molter had a team-high 22 digs to lead the Tigers.
Anna Ripp added 18 assists and four aces, Sara Dasler had nine assists, and Chelsea Akin had four aces and 11 digs for Marshfield.
“To be able to be on someone else’s floor and go in and win a match where you are down 0-2 takes a lot of mental toughness,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska. “Our seniors really stepped it up, and all four contributed when we needed them to.
“This team just keeps improving every week. I’m so excited about how good we still can get.”
Marshfield plays at the Neenah Invitational on Saturday.
