MERRILL – The Marshfield freshman football team came up short in its final road game of the season, losing to Merrill 28-20 on Thursday.
Trevor Smith scored on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Grant Michaelis, Jared Klein hit Derek Michalski for a 5-yard touchdown, and Braden Bohman had a 25-yard TD run for the Tigers’ three scores. Smith also caught a 2-point conversion from Klein.
Jacob Brueggen, Trenton Smith, Sawyer Lovstad, Jon Wittman and Angus Bump were the leading tacklers for the Marshfield defense.
Marshfield wraps up its season at Beell Stadium on Oct. 17 against Antigo at 4 p.m.
