SPENCER – Spencer dominated the first and third games and did just enough to pull out the second in sweeping Edgar 3-0 in a WIAA Division 3 volleyball regional quarterfinal Tuesday at Spencer High School.
The Rockets won 25-7, 25-20, 25-9, to move on to the regional semifinals on Thursday when they will host Auburndale at 7 p.m. Auburndale beat Loyal/Granton 3-0 on Tuesday.
Marisa Johnson had 15 kills and 19 digs, Lindsey Vaughan had 30 digs and three aces, and Brooke Kettleborough had 30 assists for Spencer.
Macie Weber added nine kills and two blocks, and Tynae Phillips had seven kills and two blocks for the Rockets.
“We really played well in games 1 & 3…passed and attacked strong,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Game 2 we struggled with unforced errors. We will need to clean those up if we want to move on.”
