FOND DU LAC – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team started its 2013-14 season with a 1-1 record and a third-place finish at the UW-Fond du Lac Tip-Off Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The Marauder lost to UW-Fond du Lac 55-44 on Friday in the opener, then beat Fox Valley Technical College 55-45 in the consolation game on Saturday.
Marshfield fell behind 33-18 in the first half of Friday’s game and couldn’t recover.
Corrine Meacham had 17 points and six rebounds to lead the Marauders.
On Saturday, Marshfield trailed 29-21 at halftime before rallying with a 34-16 second half.
McKenzie Trunkel hit five 3-pointers and scored 24 points for the Marauders in the victory.
Marshfield plays at Western Technical College in La Crosse at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
