MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team started strong and held off UW-Marinette 68-53 in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference game Wednesday night.
The Marauders led 36-23 at the break and were able to maintain their lead through the end of the game.
UW-Marshfield improves to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the WCC.
McKenzie Trunkel scored 26 points, drilling six 3-pointers, to lead the Maraudes. Corrine Meacham added 21 points and eight rebounds and Taylor Lynn had 11 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for Marshfield.
The Marauders forced 16 turnovers and held Marinette to 30.9 percent (21 of 68) shooting from the floor.
Marshfield is back in action Monday at UW-Manitowoc.
