STRATFORD – The Stratford wrestling team swept its five matches to win the 2013 Schoenherr Multidual tournament on Saturday at Stratford High School to open its season.
The Tigers defeated Chequmaegon 78-3, Medford 68-13, Phillips 72-12, Chippewa Falls 58-21 and Mondovi 74-6 to take the team title.
Chippewa Falls finished second with a 4-1 record.
Stratford had eight undefeated individual champions, led by Hunter Kaufmann who was 5-0 (4-0 at 220 pounds). Kaufmann had pins in all five of his matches in a time totaling just 6 minutes, 34 seconds.
Sam Wenzel was 2-0 at 106 (5-0 overall), Anthony Gliniecki went 5-0 at 120, Phil Sersch was 5-0 at 126, Alex Heiden went 5-0 at 132, Kellen Bornbach was 5-0 at 170, Kamren Bornbach was 5-0 at 182 and Dondrick Tackes went 5-0 at 195 for Stratford.
