SPENCER – Marshfield Columbus Catholic overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Spencer 47-44 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Spencer High School.
Jessica Trad poured in 21 points to lead the Dons, who improve to 4-1 overall and remain perfect at 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East.
Spencer drops to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Dons outscored Spencer 11-8 in the third quarter to cut the Rockets’ lead to 33-30, then held a 17-11 advantage in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.
Trad was 8 of 12 from the free throw line, while the rest of the Dons were just 1 of 8. Alishia Riegel added 11 points and Hannah Kruse had 10 for Columbus Catholic.
Macie Weber had 12 points and six rebounds to top Spencer, which was hurt by 16 turnovers.
Columbus is at Loyal and Spencer plays at Granton in a pair of Cloverbelt East matchups on Tuesday.
