COLBY – Spencer overcame an early deficit and went on to a double-digit victory, beating Colby 57-46 in a Cloverbelt Conference boys basketball game Thursday night at Colby High School.
Mitchell Susa had 21 points and eight rebounds, Joe Meyers added 13 points and Bobby Pilz chipped in with 12 points for the Rockets.
Spencer overtakes first place in the Cloverbelt East, improving to 7-1 overall and in the conference. Marshfield Columbus Catholic lost at Owen-Withee on Thursday and falls out of a tie with the Rockets. O-W is now 6-1 in the conference.
Spencer hosts Columbus Catholic on Tuesday. That game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
Colby (5-5, 4-4 Cloverbelt East) led 12-9 after the first quarter before the Rockets responded, outscoring the Hornets 31-14 over the middle two quarters to take a 14-point lead.
Spencer made 13 of 16 free throws and held a 23-17 rebounding advantage.
