AUBURNDALE – Zach Staats poured in a career-high 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds, leading the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 56-34 rout of Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Staats was 10 of 13 from the field and made 4 of 5 at the free throw line for the Apaches, who improve to 9-1 overall and remain perfect at 6-0 in the Marawood South.
Stratford drops to 2-6 and 2-3 in the conference.
Auburndale led 17-2 after the first quarter and 31-8 by halftime. The Apaches pushed the lead to 30 after the third quarter before Stratford closed the gap a bit in the fourth.
Blake Anderson hit three 3-pointers and added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for Auburndale.
Jake Reif had 15 points for Stratford.
Auburndale has a nonconference game at home against Nekoosa on Monday, while Stratford is off until next Thursday when it plays at Athens.
