Marshfield girls basketball drops road game at Waunakee

WAUNAKEE – The Marshfield girls basketball team suffered its second straight nonconference loss, falling at Waunakee 51-45 on Saturday.

Marshfield (4-6) led 11-6 after the first quarter, but Waunakee responded with a 19-4 second quarter to take a 25-15 lead at halftime.

Marshfield came back to cut the lead in half, 35-30, after the third quarter but couldn’t make up the difference.

McKayla Scheuer had 14 points and Ellie Fehrenbach added 10 for the Tigers.

Maddie Shaw topped Waunakee (6-5) with 17 points.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday with another nonconference game at Rhinelander. Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Friday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., with the boys to follow at 7:45 p.m. The Marshfield girls game on Tuesday and both games on Friday will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
