Phillips sends Spencer girls basketball to four loss in a row

SPENCER – Phillips won its sixth straight game and handed the Spencer girls basketball team its fourth loss in a row, beating the Rockets 48-41 in a nonconference game Monday night at Spencer High School.

Phillips (8-2) led 26-16 at halftime and pushed the lead to 13 after three quarters.

Spencer (2-6) shot just 31 percent (15 of 49) from the field and made only 9 of 21 free throws.

The Loggers shot 46 percent from the floor (17 of 37).

Kendra Brown scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds for Phillips.

Marisa Johnson made 5 of 6 free throws and had a team-high 15 points for Spencer. The rest of the Rockets were just 4 of 15 from the line.

Spencer hosts Greenwood in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup on Thursday.
