Greenwood comes back in fourth quarter to top Spencer girls basketball

SPENCER – Greenwood overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to down Spencer 42-35 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer led 31-28 after three quarters only to see the Indians post a 14-4 run to close out the game and grab the road win.

Greenwood improves to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the Cloverbelt East. Spencer drops to 2-7 and 1-6 in the conference after suffering its fifth straight loss.

Macie Weber led the Rockets with 10 points, making 5 of 6 shots from the field. The rest of the Rockets made just nine of 35 shots as they shot 34 percent from the floor overall.

Teagen Mayenschein had 14 points, 10 from the free-throw line, to top Greenwood.

Spencer hosts Owen-Withee on Tuesday.
