Stratford loses at Athens, suffers fourth straight loss

ATHENS – Stratford led by five points after the first quarter but couldn’t hold on and fell to Athens 47-42 in a nonconference boys basketball game Thursday night at Athens High School.

Stratford led 12-7 after one quarter only to see the Bluejays (9-4) outscore them 23-14 over the middle two quarters to take the lead.

Jake Reif scored 16 points to lead Stratford (2-7), which has lost four straight games.

Tony Thurs led the Bluejays with 14 points.

Stratford hosts Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Tuesday.
