LOYAL – Marshfield Columbus Catholic blasted Loyal 45-26 on Friday night to climb into a tie for second place in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball standings.
The Dons improve to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in the conference with the road victory and are now tied with Spencer for second place, one-half game behind Neillsville.
Loyal falls to 2-8 overall and 1-7 in the Cloverbelt East.
Columbus Catholic hosts Gilman next Thursday.
Columbus led 16-14 after the first half, then exploded out to a 17-4 advantage in the third quarter to push its lead to double digits.
Jacob Puent had 15 points and Derrick Green added 12 for the Dons.
