AUBURNDALE –Auburndale used a seven-run second inning to knock off Colby 9-7 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.
Rhys Wahleithner allowed seven runs, but just three earned, in a complete-game effort for the Apaches. He struck out nine and walked two, but was the victim of four errors. He walked two and gave up just four hits.
Troy Kollross was 3-for-4 and Wahleithner added two hits for Auburndale, which had seven overall.
Aaron Koerner and Colton Duvall had doubles for Colby.
Auburndale jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings and held off the Hornets despite the shaky defense behind Walleithner.
The Apaches host Loyal in a nonconference game Tuesday.
