Marshfield softball team closes out Florida trip with victory

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Marshfield softball team finished up its trip to DisneyWorld on Friday with a 10-0 five-inning win over West Geauga (Ohio) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Rhiannon Baierl (three innings, three hits allowed) and Scout Meyer (two innings, one hit) combined on the shutout for the Tigers, who wrapped up their five-day spring break trip with a 2-2 record.

Andie Varsho continued her torrid start by going 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Marshfield. Varsho finished the four-game trip going 14-for-18 with 10 RBIs and three triples for the Tigers.

Lindsey Duerr and Raelynn Wingert each went 2-for-3 for the Tigers.

Andie Varsho got the game started with a leadoff triple, leading to three first-inning runs for Marshfield.

Taylor Varsho ended the game with a two-run triple in the fifth inning.

“Overall, we played an awesome game, shut them out offensively with our pitching,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said.

Marshfield is back in action Friday, April 9 at Black River Falls and opens its home schedule with the annual Marshfield Invitational at the Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 17.
