LOYAL – The Spencer boys basketball team rebounded from a loss on Monday to defeat Loyal 64-50 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Loyal High School.
The Rockets used a 32-10 advantage in the second quarter to pull ahead, then put the game away with a 15-6 run in the fourth.
Mitchell Susa had 16 points and five rebounds, Bobby Pilz added 15 points and Jeremiah Cattanach was 7 of 10 from the field and scored 14 for Spencer (10-4, 10-3 Cloverbelt East).
Loyal is now 2-12 overall and 1-11 in the conference.
Spencer was solid at the free throw line, making 10 of 12 shots, and held a narrow 24-20 rebounding advantage in the win.
Spencer’s next game is Thursday at home against Neillsville. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com. Neillsville was upset by Augusta on Tuesday and fell one game behind Owen-Withee in the conference standings at 11-3. Spencer is one-half game behind the Warriors.
