Spencer boys basketball outlasts Gilman

SPENCER – Bobby Pilz drilled four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a 53-46 win over Gilman in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday at Spencer High School.

Pilz hit 4 of 8 shots from long range and added three rebounds in the win for Spencer (12-6, 11-5 Cloverbelt East).

Joe Meyers added 14 points for the Rockets, who made 7 of 18 3-pointers.

James Copenhaver led all scorers with 22 points for Gilman (5-14, 5-11 Cloverbelt East).

The game was tight throughout with Spencer outscoring the Pirates by three in the first quarter, four in the second and two in the third.

Spencer hosts Colby on Friday in its final regular-season home game of the season.
