WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Assumption came out of halftime with a 17-4 run and blew past Stratford 54-32 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Assumption High School.
Assumption led 23-15 at halftime before the big third-quarter run that gave the Royals a 21-point lead.
Gena Grundhoffer had 20 points and nine rebounds for Assumption (16-2, 10-1 Marawood South).
Stratford (7-10, 3-7 Marawood South) was just 7 of 24 from the field as the Royals put the clamps down on the Tigers’ offense and forced 17 steals.
Tianna Hughes scored 12 points, making 8 of 12 free throws, to lead Stratford.
Stratford plays at Auburndale on Friday.
