PITTSVILLE – The third quarter proved to be the difference in Monday’s Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game between Stratford and Pittsville.
The first, second and fourth quarters were dead even, but Stratford outscored Pittsville 16-12 in the third quarter and held on for a 43-39 win over the Panthers at Pittsville High School.
The victory pushes Stratford (6-9 overall) back over the .500 mark in the Marawood South at 6-5. Pittsville drops to 5-14 and 2-10 in the conference.
Jake Reif had 16 points, making 4 of 7 from 3-point range, and A.J. Strasser added 11 poitns, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals for Stratford.
Brad Wesely had 16 points for Pittsville.
Stratford hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Thursday.
