WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls basketball team won for the sixth straight time and completed a season-sweep of Wisconsin Rapids on Friday night, knocking off the Raiders 52-37 at Lincoln High School.

Marshfield is now 12-7 overall and 8-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, but its chances of sneaking into the top spot in the conference took a hit as first-place D.C. Everest slipped past Wausau West 46-43 on Friday.

Everest leads Marshfield by a game with only one game remaining on the Evergreens’ WVC schedule. Marshfield hosts Merrill next Friday and plays at Wausau West on Feb. 27, while D.C. Everest closes its Valley season next Friday at home against Stevens Point, which is just 2-8 in the conference.

Wisconsin Rapids is now 5-12 and 3-8 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference after the loss.

Marshfield will play a nonconference road game at Ashwaubenon on Saturday.
