MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls track team had five first-place finishes to propel it to a first-place finish at the Marshfield Tiger Relays on Tuesday at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
The Tigers scored 120 points, outlasting Wisconsin Valley Conference-rival D.C. Everest by seven points.
Marshfield senior Kelsey Weigel won the quad athlete event, taking first in the long jump, shot put, 60-yard dash and 440-yard run to sweep all four events and finish with 40 points.
Marshfield’s other wins came in the 4-lap throwers relay, the mile relay, the distance medley relay and the 8-lap relay.
“The girls had solid efforts to propel themselves to the team title,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “It went down to the final event and it was a very exciting finish. The girls had a lot of fun tonight and we were pleased with their efforts.”
Michelle Theisen, Nicole Copet, Mikayla Sebastian and McKenzie Noeldner teamed to win the 4-lap throwers relay in 1:32.61 for the Tigers.
The distance medley relay team of Nikki Youngblood, Kate Schumitsch, Jennifer Kaiser and Lisa Kaiser won with a time of 12:02.87.
Sara Fuller, Ellen Stichert, Amanda Cousins and Alexa Fritsch won the mile relay in 4:38.59.
Amy Krogman, Stichert, Miranda Snortheim and Nikki Wells took first in the 8-lap relay in 3:14.93.
Marshfield is back in action again next Tuesday at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Indoor Meet at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
