Marshfield seniors Luke Zuiker and Matt Oestreich were both named to the first team of the 2013-14 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team, as voted on by the conference coaches.
Zuiker, Wausau West junior Taylor Penn and Stevens Point sophomore Trevor Anderson were unanimous first-team selections, and join Oestreich and Stevens Point sophomore Sam Hauser on the first team. Zuiker and Anderson were first-team picks last season as well.
Anderson was named WVC Player of the Year for the second straight season after leading the conference in scoring (21.0 points per game), field goal percentage (62.5) and 3-point percentage (56.7).
Zuiker, who topped 1,000 points for his career late in the season, finished third in conference in scoring (16.1 ppg), led the Valley in rebounding (6.2 rebounds per game) and tied with Oestreich, Anderson and Tanner Dimka of Wausau East in assists at 3.8 per game.
Oestreich averaged 13.0 points per game, which was sixth in the league, and finished third in field goal percentage (58.3) and seventh in 3-point percentage (43.6).
Penn was second in the conference in scoring at 19.0 points per game, and Hauser was fourth in scoring (15.8 ppg), second in rebounding (5.8) and first in free throw percentage (89.3).
Marshfield seniors Alex Strege and Jeff Allison were honorable mention choices.
Strege averaged 9.8 points per game and was fifth in field goal percentage (55.0). Allison finished fifth in the league in 3-point percentage (45.8).
Stevens Point’s Scott Anderson was named WVC Coach of the Year.
