STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic swept both the boys and girls team titles at the 43rd annual Stratford Track Invitational on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
Stratford placed second in both the boys and girls standings. The Newman boys had 156.5 points, with Stratford second with 107.5, Columbus Catholic fifth with 62, Auburndale seventh with 44 and Spencer 10th with 24.
The Newman girls had 133 points, just five more than Stratford. Spencer was third with 74, Columbus Catholic took fourth with 58.5, Auburndale took seventh with 48 and the Marshfield JV was 10th with 32.
Eli Temanson won four events to lead the charge for the Stratford boys.
Temanson won the 100 meters (11.56 seconds), the 200 (24.07), the pole vault (11 feet, 6 inches) and the long jump (19-9.75) for the Tigers.
Jacob Zuelke also won an event for the Stratford boys, taking first in the 1,600 in 4:45.31. He also placed second in the 3,200 (10:48.23).
Auburndale’s top finishes came from Tom Sabel, who was second in the 100 (12.06) and Isaac Castellano, who took third in the 1,600 (4:56.44).
Christian Payant was second in the 300 hurdles (43.43) and Jacob Puent was second in both the high jump (6-0) and the triple jump (39-1.5) for the Columbus Catholic boys. The Dons’ 400 relay team also was second (27.07).
The Spencer boys top individual finishes came from Noah Zastrow. He finished second in the pole vault (11-0) and took fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.29).
Alexandra Hutchison won two events for the Columbus Catholic girls. She won the 100 in 13.61 and the 200 in 26.93.
Rachel Zastrow won three events for Spencer, taking first in the pole vault (8-6), the 100 hurdles (17.61) and the 300 hurdles (51.25).
The Stratford girls had six event winners. The 3,200 relay (10:56.90) and 800 relay (1:53.39) won for the Tigers. Individually, Nadia King won the 1,600 (5:48.01), Johnelle Miner took first in the 3,200 (13:09.17), Brooke Schultze won the high jump (5-0), and MacKenzie Hannan won the discus (60-5) for Stratford.
Auburndale’s Sylviann Momont took second in the triple jump (31-4) and the long jump (15-7.25) for the Apaches’ top finishes.
